Awesome Angle : Cannon and the Cannon Couloirs
Awesome Angle is a blog post series of photographs taken of mountains, peaks, and routes that I have climbed in the past from a perspective of another mountain with a unique angle. We often as peakbaggers climb peaks enjoying the full diversity the relief has to offer and yet I know at times I have not recognized from afar some of the places I have been, but as time and years pass I find it most enjoyable to get the big picture of the high places we visited and catalog the unique topography in my mind which I can later use as a landmark.
The above picture shows the Cannon Couloirs, and the couloir route over the perenninal snowfield to Cannon Mountain 8638″ one of the top 100 highest peaks in Washington State. We dayhiked this as a loop hiking through the often visited Upper Enchantments. The trip was long and very strenuous consisting of 15 miles, 7500′ of gain over 18.5 hours with a near tragedy at the top of the couloir and eventually we came upon a needless and fatal tragedy descending Asgard Pass as we began closing our loop but the timeline for the trip was filled with spectacular terrain, alpine lakes, and wildlife. This awesome angle serve’s as a bookmark of a great adventure with friends.
