Babcock Bench Loop
We were looking for a snow-less hike during this cold and snowy winter which has broken many temperature and snowfall records around Central Washington so we figured we would head to Babcock Bench in the desert near the Columbia River and while we were not expecting an absence of snow the 1-3 feet caught us a little off guard at 700 – 1000′ elevation levels along with multiple small snow slides in places. I have been in this area for 15 years and never seen this much snow in the Ancient Lakes Area. The scenery was spectacular on the cool but full sun day. Happy Hiking !
