Hoka One One Speedgoat Mid 2018 : The Arrival
I finally received a pair of the revised 2018 Hoka One One Speedgoat Mid trail runners currently available only from Hoka One One. I have run in the low cut version of the Speedgoat for the last three years and purchased the original Mids when they were only available over seas.
I have used the Mid version as a ultralight hiking and backpacking shoe predominantly off trail in Washington’s North Central Cascades the shoes with MAX cushioning, aggressive vibram 5mm lug soles, and a wide base are a supportive, balanced, and terrain conforming ultralight phenomenon at 24.4 oz a pair and the 2018 version has been upgraded with an improved padded gusseted tongue and ankle collar, flat non-slip shoe strings, light heel counter, and what feels like a slightly larger toe box. My initial impression is that they have excellent heel to toe transition, a more structured upper, and awesome cushion. Did I mention the cushion ?
