Tumwater Pipeline Trail, Leavenworth, Wa. 3/09/2005

A very short around 2 mile roundtrip dayhike with a TH access just about 2 miles W of Leavenworth in The narrow Tumwater canyon. Listed as a good spring / summer wild flower hike. Pull out and park off Rt. 2 next to The Wenatchee River walk along the N shore to an old pipeline bridge where the pipe has been cut in two with the lower half serving as a walkway. From the center of the bridge starts some beautiful River and Canyon views towards the W. Once across the trail is easy and level as it meanders along the S bank of the river. There are tall canyon walls, rock formations, rock ridges / bluffs, beautiful sections of river with some pebble and sandy beach areas, and ridgeline views. It is a shorty but if your visiting Leavenworth might be a nice short snowshoe in winter, wildflower walk in spring / summer with access to swimming, fishing.
